Who are the Young Professionals of Seattle?
Young Professionals of Seattle (YPOS) was established in 2011 to provide a platform where locals can connect with other young professionals and thaw the rumored “Seattle Freeze”. A few years and over 12,000 members later, our responsibility to the community has expanded.
How old is “young”? We don’t really care… but if you’re active and passionate about entrepreneurship, business, networking or simply forwarding your career, then join our community.
Who Runs YPOS?
YPOS is administered by a set of elected board members and other committee members selected from the excellent pool of young professionals within the Seattle area. Interested in joining the team? Fill out this application and we’ll reach out if an opportunity becomes available.
Goals for YPOS
YPOS’s ultimate goal is to help create a revitalization of the Seattle economy and society, based on the principle that people are at the heart of what makes businesses and communities work well.
We strive to have a significant impact on the community by providing opportunities for young professionals to enhance their personal and professional growth through experiences that connect, educate and empower.
This premier Eastside networking group became even more awesome when they were acquired by YPOS in November of 2013. Loop, formerly known as Schmooze & Booze, is lead by superstar team of well connected and ambitious young professionals (pssst… check our team page if you’re not sure who we’re talking about).
On the 3rd Wednesday of every month the Loop team hosts high-caliber business relationship building events at one of Bellevue’s most sophisticated social scenes. There’s only one rule: No business talk until 7pm. If you’re up for the challenge, get yourself to the next event!
ProDev (that’s short for professional development, for you newbies) is a speaker series featuring industry experts discussing the things they know best. These events are a bit more intimate, and a little more structured, than the flagship YPOS happy hour. Each ProDev event is a 45 minute discussion book-ended with some networking, of course.
In the end, ProDev was put together to help inspire your own professional development by giving you an opportunity to not just engage with your city, but interact with the companies and entrepreneurs and executives that help drive a city on the move.
